In 2019 Siar Landscape Photography was a Finalist in the County Clare Round of Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur (IBYE) in the Best Business Idea category.
IBYE, now in its fifth year, is a nationwide youth enterprise initiative to help those aged 18-to-35 with an innovative business idea, new start-up or established business. In 2019, 1,644 young entrepreneurs entered IBYE, it is an initiative of the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation and is supported by Enterprise Ireland and local authorities. In the County Clare competition, I was amongst the 16 local finalists; in the Best New Idea’ category with Michelle Tierney (SymPhysis Medical), category winner and James Moriarty (Pro Active Stats), Camilla Roelants (Greenua Sustainable Food Packaging), Sean Lynch (WellWear) and Gráinne Glenny (Content Counter).
In the lead-up to the county final, I received targeted business support through Local Enterprise Office Clare, including an intensive Business Boot Camp, mentoring and support sessions on my business plans, pitch training as well as getting the opportunity to connect with other young entrepreneurs involved. I even got in front of the (video) camera, as you can see below!
Without this process and support Siar Landscape Photography would not be where it is today and I encourage anyone with a business idea to get involved!
