Flaggy Shore Sunset | County Clare | Ireland
The Flaggy Shore at Sunset, landscape photograph taken during our Indian summer in early September 2023.
A half a mile of coastline in North Clare from New Quay to Finavarra Point, the Flaggy Shore is popular with walkers, sea swimmers and a discovery point on the Wild Atlantic Way route. It's famous for its geology, with limestone rock, fossils embedded in the coastal bedrock and traces of glacial movements.
It's also been immortalised by Seamus Heaney in his poem 'Postscript':
"And some time make the time to drive out west
Into County Clare, along the Flaggy Shore.." (read full poem)
