Skellig Islands | Photography Collection

Introducing our first mini-collection of stunning photographs of the Skellig Islands, also known as na Scealaga. Comprising of Skellig Michael or Sceilg Mhichíl, and Little Skellig or Sceilig Bheag, these iconic islands are located approximately 13km off the coast of County Kerry in the Atlantic Ocean. They are world-renowned for their natural beauty, rich history, and fame as a filming location for popular movies.

Skellig Michael, also known as Sceilg Mhichíl, is home to a sixth-century Christian monastery situated close to the top of one of its peaks. It has been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and has also served as a filming location for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Little Skellig, also known as Sceilig Bheag, is uninhabited, and landing on the island is not permitted. It is home to Ireland's largest gannet colony, with tens of thousands of birds nesting on the island.
